I don't know if she is taken or not and I don't want to freak her out or sound desperate. How should I go about this?

Just ask her about books she's read. She's a librarian so she has to have read some of the books in the library. See what she's into and develop friendship and then see where if goes from there.

Be corny and borrow a book. Then return it and borrow another one. Do this all in the same day over and over again until she takes notice.

Tell her you were doing that to get her attention. Now that you have it... do something to keep it. Then tell her you would like to find out more about her interesting personality.. Maybe attempt to get her number if things are going well.

If you catch her reading a book, ask her questions about it or if you've already read it, make a comment about chapter or scene in the book. If she's just at the desk working, as if perhaps she's read a certain book, and if so, ask her to a coffee shop or slow-paced shop such as that to discuss the book. If all goes well, you may end up with a second date! <3

she's interesting? lol leave her alone, b/c if the best way u can describe your thoughts/feelings about her is interesting, you gotta be a goober. she'd prolly look at you, have pity for you, then say that your late fee will be waived, only b/c you're a pathetic lil guy who uses "interesting" to describe ya librarian.

write a little note, (you have to think about what to write) and put it in a book on a shelf,
write down the name and author.... and go ask the librarian for help finding that particular book....make sure she sees the note, or when your alone with her in private..ask her if.....
GOOD LUCK!
