Tell them you want no calls at work. And if you want no calls at home, tell them that too. If they keep calling you there, record it and hire a lawyer.

Say, "Do not call me at this number." Then hang up. Don't discuss it, don't negotiate, don't even wait for the person to say, "Okay." Just hang up. Even if they are willing to violate the law and continue to call you, if it is fruitless they will eventually give up.

I wouldn't talk to a debt collector over the phone ever. I say, "Please correspond with me only in writing." Then I hang up.

(Well, I used to do that. Now I'm a credit maven so I don't get those calls.)

Tell them to "Cease & Desist" all calls to youat your job. Explain to them you understand your rights under the "Fair Debt Collections Practice Act (FDCPA)". You can read about it: www.ftc.gov. They can contact you at work until they are told you may not have calls at your job. If the continue, keep track of thier continued calls and file a complaint with the Fedreal Trade Comission or your local Attorney Gerneral's office.

Don't ASK anything. INSTRUCT them in writing the cease contacting you at your work number. Be sure to mention the Fair Debt Collections Act. If they contact you after receiving the notice, sue them.

Don't give out your work phone number. I put my cell phone number there instead so I can see who's calling and ignore calls all I want. Don't ever give them your work number to begin with.

Quit buying stuff you can't afford and pay your bills!

You can change your numbers, but usually you have to give you numbers to get the credit.
