My little chihuahua had surgery to fix her hernia yesterday. This morning and afternoon she has had a little drop of blood in her urine. I called the vet and they said its normal. She has eaten and drank water. She is moving slowly and sleeping alot (normal after surgery) but looks like she has some discomfort. Is it normal to have blood in urine post op?

As long as your vet said it was normal, I wouldn't worry too much, however nothing wrong with calling another vet and asking.

As a Veterinarian Technition, I can tell you, yes, that is normal. No worries! I would only become concerned if you find blood in her urine in a few days from now. She should have been sent home with a little pain medication (such as Rimadyl), so she shouldn't be in any discomfort. As long as she is eating/drinking normally, not vomitting, don't be concerned.
