For me to get my own apartment? i am 24. she is 60 and widowed. I pay the bills for my mother, and she splits the rent. But, I am tired of staying with her because, i need my own space and she annoys the hell out of me because she does not leave the house much.

Definately not. You need your own life. She may pour on the guilt at first and play the "poor me" card, but I'll bet you money that she gives up after a couple of months. LOL. I had a dad just like her. Once he found out I wasn't going to back down, he gave up.

Yes, i do think it is mean. Sure, you want your space, but she probably needs you. Maybe she feels lonely, or afraid that you might leave her and not visit. Or maybe she just needs more money. But for whatever the reason, she needs you. If you did move out (cuz you need a life too) you should visit often and maybe lend some money. As people get older, the tend to feel ignored. So dont ignore her.

No it's not mean. You are young. Most people your age want a little freedom and space. At 60, your mother is not old. Unless she has some kind of medical condition and she needs you around, I don't see any reason you shouldn't move out.

of course that's mean!!! your mom may really need and depend on you at this time in her life. you need to think more about her and her feeling then yourself. if you need space just let her know that and work something out where you both can be happy. also do you ever stop to think about how many times you annoyed her while you were growing up? did she throw you out or move away from you? remember you only have 1 mother.

NO it's not mean just so long as your mom can pay all the rent on her own.
If she can't pay all the rent then it would not be mean if you gave her the time she needs to get somebody else to be her roommate.
My son & I live with each other & at times it's hard but things seem to always work themselves out.
Some people just need to be on their own. Nothing wrong with that.

I think it's ok for you to get a place on your own, but it won't be a piece of cake. It's expensive.
My advise would be to set a date for yourself, like 3 months from now you will have a place of your own. Then save money like mad for a down payment.
This will also give your mom time to think about what she's going to do when she is alone.

Are you sure you can pay the bills by yourself once you go at it alone? It is easy looking for an apt. however, the rent is unbelievable. Look at the wanted ads and you will see for yourself. That is reality.

No it is not mean at all. you are 24 and you need a life on your own without your mom. Just confront her about and try to work it out.

no, it's not mean but you should make sure she is capable of living alone before you move. is she self-reliant? can she afford the place she is living in? things like that need to be assessed first, then move!♥
