I would do the MDX. Let's face it, you will never, ever take either one of road, so why put up with the disadvantages of a truck based frame in the 4 Runner. The MDX will run circles around it, and get better mileage. The MDX will also handle, and is roomier and more nicely appointed.

A better comparo would be the MDX and Lexus RX350. The Lexus is the more luxurious and reliable of the two, but is not much of a handler. If you can wait for the new Toyota Highlander to come out, it will have the same V6 and undercut the price by a few grand.

Toyota 4Runner is better because it has better reliability than the Acura MDX.

With a V6- Acura
V8- Toyota.

I would go with the Toyota. Honda makes the Acrua and there have been reports there odometer's were not correct and that class action lawsuits have been filed suggesting fraud. I have never heard or experienced trouble with a Toyota.

I would go for Saturn Outlook or GMC Acadia, cheaper to buy, better mileage, modern design and huge interior space. And not everybody has one... cool cars.
