*******UPDATED WHEN SEEING YOUR ADDITION******
The car seat and booster age in VA is age 6.. Must be restrained until age 15.

"In Virginia, car seat laws children under age 6 to ride in a federally approved car seat or booster seat. Virginia child passenger safety state law also requires that children ages 6 to 15 be properly restrained in a federally approved child passenger safety seat or a seat belt."

here are your state laws http://www.dmv.state.va.us/webdoc/general/safety/childsafety/laws.asp

most states now have the booster seat until 8 rule. Ohio puts ours into action next month *it used to be until 40 lbs but now they are going by age*

Check with your state to see what the car seat and booster laws are. Here is a link to the recent updates states:

The new laws that were passed 2 years ago are that the child has to be in a car seat until 8 years old and 80lbs. I know, it sucks, doesn't it? My oldest will be 7 next month and she is almost to big for the stupid booster but she has to stay in it because some moron without children decided to make it a law (more than likely because the car seat companies paid him to do it).

A newborn needs to be in a carseat until they get to big for it. Then they go into a booster seat at the age of 2. Then they go into a toddler seat until they get to be 90 pounds. After they reach 90 pounds they don't a need a toddler seat anymore. They just need to be buckled in the back seat. Childern under the age of 14 should always sit in the back of a car.

By law a child under 110 lbs is suppose to be in the backseat with a car seat. The child can also be in a booster seat. My kids are tall for their ages and I know since the age of four that they have been in booster seats. The best part is that when their not riding with you they can be thrown in the trunk or out of sight . Look in your Walmart's or Toys R US, THEY HAVE REALLY GOOD DEALS!

In some states it is illegal for a child not to have a childseat until age 8. Studies say (booster seat) until age 8. I stopped when I was 5 or 6.

VA: Kids must be in booster seats up until they turn 6 years old. I just moved from VA to CA and that law was put into place a couple years ago. My daughters day care drove her to kindergarden and I had to furnish a booster seat for her to use in teh van.

It all depends on where you live. Cailfornia's law is after age 6 or 60 pounds, which ever comes first. You can contact your loca PD and ask them about your states laws. Then a booster seat is required in some cases.

I don't know what state you live in but here in CA your child has to be 6 years old or 60 lbs. That is what the law is.
