That depends a little on if the blood came up with the first vomit or if you were vomiting - vomiting - and then vomited blood.

In the second case - you may well have a Mallory Weiss tear - injury to the lining of the oesophagus (gullet) by the vomiting and thus a bit of blood coming up.

In the first instance you have vomited up some blood that has gotten into your gullet or stomach from one of a number of sources:

o Nose bleed
o Erosive oesophagitis
o Erosive gastritis
o Peptic Ulcer disease
o Arterio-venous malformation
o Bleeding disorder

If you are vomiting blood from an obvious cause such as a nosebleed - fix the obvious cause. In this case, it would not be a dangerous thing.

If you are in doubt, it is usually a good policy to be reviewed by your doctor. They can arrange the relevant investigations necessary to find out what the cause of your vomiting blood might be.

If you are vomiting A LOT of blood, you should go straight to an Emergency Department. Arguably, you should call an ambulance to take you there. THIS is dangerous and in some cases life threatening.

well it depends. what color was the blood? if it was bright red it could be from an ulcer in your stomach. you may have a nick in your esophagus. are you sure you threw it up and not coughed it up? the 2 are very different. how are you feeling? in you feel generally in bad health or kind iffy then you should head to the doc. if you mark it down. like, mark the date it happend, how much, the color. what you may have believe caused it, how you feel physically. all that stuff might be important later. if it was just a little bit you might be fine but to me it sounds worth getting checked out. if your worried about it, go to the doctor.

You could be bleeding in your stomach, which can be extremely dangerous. Have you taken any medications recently?
