Does anyone else get the killer cramp in your calf where it wakes you up in the middle of the night and you have to jump out of bed instantly to stretch your leg out?! Or is it just me? It killed me last night and now I can barely walk on it. Is there a reason for this? Feels like I have a giant knot... How do I make the pain in my calf go away?

You dont say how old you are or give much medical history. Somtimes you get leg cramps like this over potassium deficiency. Sometimes it is because of circulation and you need to see a cardiologist. Sometimes it just happens and you have to deal with it. Maybe because of some exersize or related to walking a lot. I nurse and get leg cramps after a 12 hour day running.
If this keeps up, I would go to the doctor so you can get worked up.

If you are older and have some cardiovascular problems, it could be a clot. Sometimes it comes from low potassium or sodium levels. Make sure your diet is good. Believe it or not, many people have this problem go away by putting a bar of soap under the bed sheet at the foot of the bed.

I have no idea why, but it is uncanny how you described an almost daily problem that I had a little while back.

The only thing I could do was, despite how much it hurt, walk it off. I guess this really doesn't help you fix it, but honestly it was not a good thing to have to go through.

Though it was an almost daily or should I say nightly occurrence, finally it just stopped happening.

I was lacking potasium in my diet, and started to eat bananas. The doctor suggested it, and it has worked for 3 years now. My husband had them and found out it was a symptom of his diabetes. Have you changed exercise recently? How about new shoes...many causes out there, but try the extra potasium first.
