If I could change ONE thing about my parents... I would make them ALIVE. I am only 34 and both of my parents are gone.. my Mom since August '06 and my Dad since December '02.

When I was a teenager, my parents were the dumbest people on earth. I mean how did they ever keep me alive to be a teenager being that dumb... lol

NOW.. I have 5 children of my own and it is MY turn to be the "dumbest parent on earth"... GOOD parents only want what is best for their children, sometimes what YOU want isn't the best even though it doesn't make sense now. Parents do not have an instruction booklet that come with you when you were born, it is a lot of trial and error. Parents are not perfect. As a parent I have made mistakes. As you are growing, your Mom is learning too. Sometimes we make the wrong choice and sometimes YOU make the wrong choice.

Being a teen is so hard for any generation. I think today it is even harder though because parents try to make their kids grow up too fast. Try sitting down and talking to your Mom. If you want to be treated like a mature teen you have to ACT like one too. Know that even if you get to a level of great communication with your Mom, not always will you agree with her and vice versa. I think a lot about growing up has to do with making mistakes and learning from them. Always respect your Mom no matter how angry you get and let her know you would like the same from her.

I hope you don't think I am lecturing you. I'm not. I remember being a teen and it was so frustrating sometimes. I eventually grew to have a tremendous amount of respect for my parents and I love them so much. I find myself doing the same things with my kids they did with my sister and me. I say the same things, it makes me laugh now. My parents were my best friends. Nothing can ever replace them ever.

Good luck with you and your Mom. It will get better all around. My Mom and my Dad are both Angels now... literally. Sometimes it is overwhelming how much I wishI could pick up the phone for help with my kids.

The only thing that I would change would be that our parents lived long enough to see how all of us siblings turned out .. the Honor of our Military Careers, the way we worked our ways through UGrad and Grad Degrees, the way we took FULL Responsibility (as single parents no less!) for our children, and yes, the way we have been able to go forwards in life.

I would not change one thing. Parents make mistakes just like anyone. We are here to learn. I love them dearly and would not trade them or change anything about them for all the money in the world. LL.

I wish they would take more time to do things they enjoy and stop worrying about me and my sister. We are both in our late 20's with good jobs and a good education, but my parents still won't retire and just chill. They are such worriers. I wish they could just relax.
