My husband is a 19D, and when he is deployed he does pretty much the same as a lot of the infantry. The lines between MOS blur so much when they are in Iraq, that it doesn't really matter. My husband has done everything from routine patrols, to clearing houses, to acting on intel and arresting suspected insurgents, to searching for weapons caches, to escorting dignitaries in their convoys. I have a friend who is an 11B and his unit spent it's entire deployment guarding at a prison - he never left the FOB or did a single infantry task the entire time he was deployed. To a certain degree, everyone just does what is needed over there, regardless of MOS.
And yes, all infantry hate cavalry. I think they teach them that they're supposed to in basic. But its ok, because the cav guys hate them right back. They both have their places in the Army and they are equally important.

I am a 19K in an infantry unit, only 10 of us in a full infantry company and they hate us. But there is one cav unit in our brigade and they did the exact same thing the infantry did in Iraq. The spur ride will be fun for ya!

You would liking be a 19D. The CAV supports it's self and also work with certain other MOS's. I'm 19K and I would change it for anything. The the 19 series is pretty cool, plus you can get your spurs. If you ain't cav, you ain't s#!t.

traditionally, absolutely everyone under 18 is ineligible for an OCOUNS deployment. it is not any assure, in an entire mobilization, lively 17 year olds could be deployed. yet that hasn't exceeded off in a 0.5-century. My father occupied Japan at 15, and one in all his fellow regimental infantrymen made the Battan march at 14, yet they the two lied their age. for the period of right this moment of reliable IDs, you could not extremely do this. It does not actually matter form plenty although. by using the time you finished all your preliminary coaching & commute time, you would be 18, or very close to to it.

i'm going to get flamed and all that and i don't care. I hate 19d's all 11b's hate 19d's they are taking their jobs. The whole cav chain of command is so different from the regular infantry platoon and squad structure and i don't know it's just weird. Their whole tactics are based on advance gather evidence and intelligence and retreat. Yes retreat. I hate the word, it's not in an 11b's vocabulary. U know why it's not in their vocabulary because when you retreat you give the enemy time to regroup and reorganize thus getting stronger and ready to attack again. Plus having all our forward military based on this will make our squads appear weak. Yes the 19d's do live to fight another day but at what cost. Leaving the enemy to reorganize and regroup. Flame away 19d's and 19d wives, i can take it and have heard it before. That's just my opinion.
Though i will say that i like the fact that the units are organized to support themselves. They do have that going for them and no one can argue against that strong point.
