Hi!
I helped to establish a small "green" tourism business in Australia a few years back as a way of saving forests from being destroyed by woodchipping. We used a method called "The Natural Step" to help us ensure that what we were embarking on was not going to contribute any more harm to the environment. It's really worth checking this mob out - they're truly international and are helping a few major corporations go Green.

There's also the concept of "the Triple Bottom Line"; which is quite popular with many Australian Government departments these days. This refers to the concept of ensuring that all three tiers of a business are running together - Financial, Social and Environmental - and are being managed on a sustainable basis. Normally a company is only concerned with financial sustainability and this is a major factor in the harm which we are seeing happen to our planet.

The second part of your question - about environmental issues - I can't really answer without knowing what industry / business you're referring to....but in a word, "yes". If your business is situated in the "environment" which of course it must be, you will have an impact, no matter what you're doing! The idea of a sustainable business is to reduce these impacts to a negligible level, or actually make the contribution positive through various techniques such as outlined in The Natural Step's materials.

Good Luck!

Love and Light,

Jarrah
