There are SO many who got away with horrifying things throughout thousands of years, so if they never payed for their crimes on earth and 'repented' and were weally weally weally sorry, they get rewarded and never see justice at all?
Is this what God is like then?

What are they being rewarded for and why are they not punished, exactly.
please explain./...

Believe it or not, I am atheist, but I can answer this question.

After the second coming of the messiah, all souls, alive on earth and souls of those who have already died, are brought before Jesus/God and judged for the sins they commited while they lived on Earth.
Its roughly something like that, there is more detail to it, but that the gyst of it.
I learned about it when I read the "Left Behind" series of books. It was explained in the few books of the series.

1. I believe there are consequences for sin, not just hell. Like when I sin, though I may repent, God still punishes me for what I did. Like a parent who still punishes the child even though the child confessed and apologized. How? It depends. I don't know

2. God knows the heart and what is in it. Your "weally, weally, sorry" comment suggests that the person has not really repented. God knows the difference.

3. Like I said in your last question, God is not happy with sin. But to God no sin is greater than another. Sin is sin. Lying, fornication, and faithlessness, are all sin. All equal, all punishable.

4. But God's ultimate desire is that all be saved. That's everyone. Paul (in the Bible) killed Christians, murdered God's people. But God still met with him on the road to Damascus, and He wants, and accepts everyone. But that doesn't mean He accepts sin.

God alone is able to know whether any repentance is sincere. Even so do not think that they have gotten away with it. God is able to deliver the appropriate justice... and we are told that all will have to make an accounting of every word and deed of ours.
So I guess imagine standing before the Savior of the World and explaining that sort of thing.
Additionally Jesus declares it would be better for the person who harms a child to have a millstone hung around their neck and thrown into the sea than to have to face what they will come their judgment day.

Don't worry, no one will get away with one thing. All thoughts and actions will be tried before God at the Judgement. All will be rewarded or punished accordingly, with the exception of Christians, as they have repented and accepted God's free gift and pardon.

Nobody escapes,if they murder someone. Read 1John chapter 3 verse 15. No muderer has eternal life abiding in him. Murderers will pay. Also just because these people say they are sorry,or repent, you know it is most likely not a real from the heart repentence. God knows a fake, because He knows the heart of man.

Great question Chloe - BTW I hope that someone like this had not done this kind of evil to you!

The essence of this type of question is:

"How can a just God NOT punish sin?"

The other question is:

"How can a loving God punish sin?"

Well a just God MUST punish sin; all sin including yours and mine. But a loving merciful God does not delight to see his righteous, terrible wrath fall upon people.

Hence the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. He was punished for our sin so that the anger and judgment of God was appeased - fully paid. Jesus Christ took the punishment for that wicked child rapist - took all the vile guilt and full eternal punishment just like he took all the guilt and punishment for all the evil you have done.

And God attributes to that rapist the very righteousness of God in Christ, then fills him with his Spirit and changes his heart.

So Christ answered both the Justice and the Mercy of God.

That is why Jesus said that harlots and publicans would enter the kingdom of heaven before the scribes and Pharisees. Because the scribes trusted their own works, while the harlots could see they could not get into heaven on their own merit.

Many are mad at God because he WILL punish sin, and many are mad at God because he will FORGIVE sin.

God will punish sin and will also forgive sin. Like the rapist's sin, Your sin will be punished one way or another. It will either be punished on Christ - if you receive his redemptive payment- or you will bear that terrible punishment yourself.

What makes you think that they "get away with it?" If they repent, their sins are forgiven, but 1 Peter 4:17
For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

and
1 Corinthians 3:15
If any man's work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

Do you think that is getting in "home free?" Do you think that there is an excusing of sin without consideration of the evil perpetrated?
Read the rest of 1 Corinthians 3 to see about rewards and punishments.

Remember the thief on the cross?
Luke 23:42-43
And he was saying, "Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!" 43 And He said to him, "Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise."

Do you think that he deserved forgiveness?
What about you?
Do you "deserve" God's forgiveness?

What could you possibly, ever do to earn God's forgiveness? What could you ever do to merit his love? What could you possibly do to pay God back for the sacrifice of His only begotten son; for who? You? Me? Not a chance. We are all sinners.
Romans 3:23
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Genesis 6:5-6
5 Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
6 The LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.

God hates sin. So should we.

Unjustice has always been around and will be til Jesus comes. Noone gets away with anything, as all answer to God. and God knows when someone really repents and turns from sin. Its not our job to worry about any of that. Leave it to God.
But, even God says one must pay for their crimes.
Not everyone gets caught, and the sentencing acorss the country so varies state to state with a lot of other unfair stuff.
but, we as ppl can speak up and vote correctly, etc.
Everyone that has committed crime should pay for what they did, accordingly. But I dont believe in the death penalty. Only God can take life. BUt, dont worry, ppl that didnt repent, will pay in ways that you wuld never wish on ANYONE. Just pray that they find God before its too late and are forgiven. Most doing these horrific things were as children someone elses victim of the same kind of crap. That doesnt execuse it. BUt, it helps to explain it. When you understand the situation of demons and generational curses, it all clicks in. Only Jesus can break a generational curse. and one must ask for it. Most are so into dillusion that they dont even know what they do, and many dont even know when they do it. I do not execuse you, so dont hear that. But, do know we will all see justice. God says each of us will stand before Him, and unless you have accepted jesus and truly turned from sin and repented, you have the same fat as those ppl you described to. No sin is worse than another, tho sexual sin carries more serious consequences, because the spirit of lust is really a stronghold, brought it by them being hurt as little children to. so many rapists had sexual sin upon them, and child molesers almost always come from being sexually abused and physical abuse of beyond description. so instead of hating them and judging them, see them as God sees them, the once little children they were till some one got ahold of them, and hey, who hurt that person, where does it end? Only Jesus breaking generational curses will end this . Ppl have turned their backs on God and stay hating, and doing whatever they please. God requries obedience. Lets all jsut look at ourself.

If anyone who sins with honest conviction of their heart that they repent or turn away from their sins, and accept the pardon given by Jesus and live their life for him, then they are forgiven of all their sins. If they died in those sins never repenting of that or any other sins then they won't get away with it. They will be punished for their actions. God is a God of mercy and He seeks that all be saved. He wants us to turn from those actions that separate us from Him. The apostle Paul personally hunted down and killed Christians in early years of the faith. He was a murderer. After he repented and followed Jesus he turned away from that life and mindset that caused him to do the things he had done. It is said in the Bible that when we repent of our sins and turn to Him he remember our sins no more. We are forgiven. So whether you did nothing but lie or murdered millions of people there is hope for forgiveness if you turn to Him with a repentent heart.
