In Nazi Germany, people with "Aryan" characteristics were encouraged to have lots of children.

By and large this sort of selective breeding is seen to be negative. However, some people with genetic disorders also choose not not have children, or go through an embryonic screening process so that they do not pass it on to their descendents.

during the era of slavery in the united states slave owners used to breed their slaves to produce bigger, stronger, harder working slaves. this accounts for why black africans are stereotypically tall and skinny while african americans are often bulky and muscular.
