I have an employee that was an independent contractor for me. I want to e-file a form 1099-MISC. Please help.

1099's cannot be efiled. you must file ORIGINAL 1099's ordered from IRS or from a stationery store. you cannot even download them, as they are color coded and bar coded.
They must be sent to the payee by Jan.31 and sent in to the
Social Security Administration by Feb.28 annually. However, you should issue a W-2 to EMPLOYEES, not a 1099. You issue 1099's to independent contractors.

If it's for 2006, you're a little late - those were due out almost 2 months ago.
