Hi there, I am a Veterinarian Technition and hope my answer helps you! Smaller dogs typically live longer than larger dogs. The smaller breeds have a life expectancy of anywhere from 10-15 years, while the larger breeds have a life expectancy of 8-12 years. Obviously, some smaller dogs die younger and some larger dogs live longer. Either way, I certaintly don't think they live long enough! Hope this helps!

It really depends on the breed, but the standard is 10-14 years, give or take.
Smaller dogs tend to live longer on average (despite the incorrect information the first answer gave), and yes, they can live to 18-20, but it’s not common. Some larger breeds have a far shorter life-span of sometimes only 7-9 years.

Well I have two rat terriers and one is going to be 15 next month. He doesn't have many major health concerns other than a little slight heart murmor and a little arthritis. He gets around some days slow and other days hes as if he was 2again. The vet told us he could live to be 18yrs. I would think that bigger dogs don't live as long as smaller dogs though. I heard that before. Just depends on their health and how much love ya have for them.

Depends on the breed. Usually smaller dogs last longer. My golden retriever for example is 8 and hes got about 4 more years.
My Mini Schnauzer however has about 10 more years!

Well it all depends on the breed. Littler dogs tend to live longer. Maybe a little dog could make it to 18. Labs usually make it to 12 if they're lucky.

It depends on the size of the dog. Smaller dogs tend to normally live longer beause of their body. It doesn't take as much work to pump blood, and nutrients through a small dog's body as it does to a larger dog. little dog 12 years and up. big dog about 13 years and down.
