Yes. I did. But it was more difficult when she tried to kill my sister.

We are to forgive as we have been forgiven. Or, the opposite is also true. We are forgiven as we have forgiven others. If asked by the one who tried to kill me .... I would forgive.

Just think of all those soldiers of past wars who these days visit old battle grounds and speak to soldiers of the other side. They become friends and talk about things that they have in common. They forgive the guy that was trying to blow their heads off sixty years ago.

Besides, as a Christian, to die is not the worst thing I can think of. Leaving my earthly family is harder to take than the actual death process.

It would be difficult and I am certain I would never forget but yes, I could forgive. When I find in hard to forgive, I ask Jesus to forgive through me as He asked God to forgive when He found it difficult on the cross to forgive.

Yes. Because no matter how they feel towards you, in your heart you must be the stronger one and forgive them. Because you are supposed to love everyone in your heart, but you don't have to "like" them. To forgive is the best thing you could ever do for that person.

I could forgive them but I don't know if I would ever be able to be alone in a dark alley afterwards. Forgiveness and trust are two separate issues.

I can't honestly answer that, as I have never experienced it. I would like to think that I would. I am of the opinion that forgiving others is a very healthy thing to do. Holding hatred and resentment only hurts you, not the person you are hating.

As a Catholic, I am told to forgive, however unfortunately I find that difficult; I would try, it depends on the state they were in. Were they under the influence of anything, including senseless rage? Or did they just want to see you dead? If they are truly sorry, and it wasn't just cold blooded, then I might be able to.

If someone tries to kill you it means they either think you have power over them and they want to destroy it, or they think your life is worth less than theirs.

To forgive someone they would have to prove to me that they have accepted and now believe that all lives are equal, and they are doing good deeds to make up for their evil acts.

yes...if I could forgive those who hurt me physically and mentally I think I can forgive someone that failed to kill me. but because I forgave the person that does not mean that they don't have to pay for their actions to the law.

That's a really hard question because when you're thinking about it, you think "Yeah, I can forgive anyone," but when it actually happens its a really hard thing to do. I hope I would be able to forgive them, after all, your spirit keeps living but it leaves your physical human body.
