I'm a nanny, from south america living in USA since 2004. the only thing i see here in america is moms going crazy for theyr babies development, is baby class, baby sing class, books, educational toys, since they are new borns. There is no play time without the parent relax and just enjoy the play time, no, is always need to have some educational pourpouse in the game.
i ask? how could i, and many many others, survive, 28 years ago, without special bottles, without estimulation, whatching tv, playing outside. how could i get a degree in physical education if i didn't had baby einstain or baby class when i was 3 months old? how could i learn to love my mom and be a good person even if she spanked me sometimes and said NO to me many many times.
i want to be a mom, but i'll relax way more, because i will never accept my kid kicking me or telling me to shut up.
Can you, american moms, explain that to me: how could we survive?

This American mom happens to agree with you. I've found that raising my own children without all the stimulus and letting them play on their own AND providing discipline and firm guidance has yielded some wonderful young adults. It's too bad that more young mothers don't learn to just sit back and relax and bit and let their children enjoy being children.

I survived on Looney Tunes cartoons (OMG how violent! ha ha) and celery with peanut butter. I survived picking my own switch when I disrepected my family. On top of that, I came out of it all with an IQ of 164...hmmmm, wonder how that happened?!

My kids have a designated "learning time" throughout the day. They have 1 hour that we focus only on alphabet, learning to read (they are 2 and 4) or on numbers. They watch cartoons off and on all day long and I do my best to make sure they are educational but they get a break once in awhile and watch Spongebob or a movie. They also play out side upwards of 5 hours a day (with me) when the weather is nice. I don't force it down them. My 4 year old son can speak more Spanish than I can. He was counting to 10 in Spanish when he was just 2 years old. I didn't force it on him, he learned it from cartoons! He is already reading and he has a larger vocabulary than most people my age!

I see most moms stressed out because they are trying to do it all! Being a breadwinner and have their own life/identity/career while still trying to take care of the home and the family and the kids. THAT would drive any woman insane! If more people would cut back, make more sacrifices, and raise their children full time, I think there would be a lot less stresss.

I used to be a working mom BTW.

Moms can't relax because they we're about every little thing. But in the end the want what is best for there child. Big ups for the mothers. All mothers are strong and beautiful thank you for taking care of your bad *** kids lol. Really being a mother is something I admire it is a wonderful gift.

I agree with you. I am an American mom and I find it ridiculous. Kids don't need all that special educational color crap. That's what school is for. They need to just relax and have fun and be little kids.

and another thing, if my children ever told me to shut up you best believe they're about to get smacked. I'm sick of this let your kids control you and do what they want without punishment.

Your mom is clever and her purpose's are good and on your benefit besides the actuality which you will possibly no longer see it now. have you ever stricken to take a seat down and communicate on your mom approximately this; ask her her reasoning in the back of why she does what she does (no longer that she has to describe to you) and tell her the way you experience and perchance you could attain a compromise.

The mothers that do these things for their children just want what they think is best for their child's growth and development.
In other words, they prefer it this way.
