Seriously, look at the universe... Where? People thought it was up in the clouds, before they even understood clouds...nope, doesn't seem to be there.

As has been said, it is impossible to prove that god doesn't exist. This has been elucidated many times, and possibly most prophetically by Bertram Russel's example of the orbiting teapot (google it).
There is a tremendous and overwhelming amount of evidence that much of the bible, certainly Genesis, is absurd, if not untrue. However- many theists do understand that these ancient stories of our creation can be nothing more than allegories.
While an atheist cannot prove that god does not exist, he can prove the only pertinent aspect of god. Does god intervene in the normal course of events on our world? While there are many events which seem to be a stroke of good luck or bad fortune, there has never been any occurrence that defies the laws of physics or biology. Certainly- there is still much we don't know about the world around us- but there are no miracles.

I can't prove there is a God. All I can do is provide evidence to support what I believe. This is going to take awhile, so I hope you're prepared for a long answer.
1. Everyone knows that all organic matter is composed of atoms. Most people also know that atoms are composed of electrons, neutrons, and protons. But what are electrons, neutrons, and protons composed of? Quarks. What are quarks? SOUND. Does it make sense then, that in Genesis it's said that God "spoke" everything into being?
2. There is a LOT of historical and archaeological evidence for the Bible. Jericho, King David, King Solomon, Jesus Christ, the Apostles, Balaam, Isaiah, Moses, Abraham, Sodom and Gomorrah...there is evidence for ALL of these. And then some. That's just to name a few. I can provide sources if needed.
I'll get more later. It's 1 a.m. and I need to get to bed. I hope this question will be open for awhile.

Atheist argument- Because if God is all powerful and loves all his 'children' infinitely, he would not allow bad things to happen and he wouldn't permit Satan to get people or condemn them to hell for not believing, etc.
If your child didn't believe that you were his/her parent, you would never condemn them to hell or anything like that. You would still forgive and love them and see to it that nothing bad happens to them.
'God created the world and it was good.' What is the first noble truth? That all existance is suffering- we are all guarenteed to age, grow sick and die, the same for everyone and everything we love. We also lose everything which we have attachment to. What kind of sadistic God would create that and consider it to be good, if they are all-knowing and pure good/love? Take a look out of the window.. Is earth a 'good' place?
Good and evil are completely subjective, they are utterly dependant on opinion and an individuals views- ultimately they are delusions as nobody is born one way or another, and nor do people die good or evil- they just do what they want to do, for whatever reasons they see fit.
As for Jesus- If we are all descendants of Adam & Eve (children of God), then what makes him special and different from any of us?
Rocky- Christians thought the world was FLAT, and at the centre of the universe, and that the Sun orbits the Earth.

Anyway, this question is asked a million times a day, a million different ways all over this board.
Some people believe in God. Some don't. I do. I always have. Since I was a little kid. I didn't go to church or anything. I just believed in God. I knew. That's it. My whole life I've believed in God. Have I questioned what or who or if there is even a God? Sure.
The real question is, if it could be proved, would you accept the proof? No, most people don't. It's like standing in a field and saying, "I don't believe grass is green". Most people know the grass is green. Some people are just...

It is logically impossible to prove the non-existence of anything. The burden of proof is always on the person making the claim.
To illustrate, if I said I believed in giant, purple, fluffy salamanders that live in Brazil and hand out Halloween candy, do you think you should have to prove me wrong? How would you even attempt that?

If it could be proven by other side, there wouldn't be arguments. No one argues that the earth is falt anymore. Or that gravity exists. Because those thigns can be proven. Neither side can prove it. All we can do is give you the logical information, and let you make a decision on your own. Hence, the debate.

The Kingdom of God
In the height of heaven (Job 22:12 below), in the third heaven (2 Cor.12:2 below), God inhabits eternity (Isa.57:15 below) and dwells in Zion (Joel 3:21, Ps.23:6 below), the heavenly Jerusalem (Heb.12:22 below).
Saints of the most High will possess God’s kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever (Dan.7:18, Dan.7:22 below).
Job 22:12 [Is] not God in the height of heaven? and behold the height of the stars, how high they are!
2 Cor.12:2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.
Isa. 57:15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name [is] Holy; I dwell in the high and holy [place], with him also [that is] of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
Joel 3:21 For I will cleanse their blood [that] I have not cleansed: for the LORD dwelleth in Zion.
Heb.12:22 But ye are come unto mount Sion (Re.14:1), and unto the city of the living God, the HEAVENLY Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels.
Ps.23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me (David) all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
Dan.7:18 But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom (Dan.7:22 below) for ever, even for ever and ever.
Dan.7:22 Until the Ancient of days (Dan.7:13) came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High (1 Cor.6:2-3, Re.15:3); and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom (Dan.7:18 above).

I acknowledge the possibility of a deistic god - one that created the world with a big bang, then left it to see what happens. If there is a god with no interaction with the world, then there will be no evidence, but the god will still exist (although such a god would be irrelevant to humanity).

Long before science proved the world was round, the bible already had it right.
Isaiah 40:22
It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
Isaiah 40:21-23
That tiny little voice inside you is saying there is a God.

Think about it. A being capable of flinging hundreds of billions of galaxies into existence comes to one microbial blue speck in the cosmos, assumes the form of a human animal in a minor scrubland province in a primitive age, performs unremarkable tricks which any third rate magician these days can surpass, and he dies in total obscurity, unnoticed and unrecorded by any chronicler of the period, leaving behind only rumors that he was ever here at all--and even the paltry rumors are indistinguishable from the ordinary and commonplace myths that humans think up in abundance. Does that really make sense to you? Does that sound like the modus operandi of an omnipotent god?
