The reason why Officers do not screw up is because of the enlisted men/women have his back and makes sure it doesn't happen....

I've heard this said before.....Officers are puppets on a string.

:)

In my 11 years in the USMC (1/77 - 4/88), I saw a few officers screw up (they are only human), and one particular screwup of an officer. He was (at the time), a Captain from the era when if you made it to OCS, you were guaranteed to get your gold bars (just after Vietnam). Just to name a few: He regularly called me by a different name (to which I refused to answer and that just irritated him), & he did his best to make you look bad in front of the CO (which was hard for him to do in my case) - thinking that making you look bad made him look good. I particularly enjoyed when after I gave my weekly report to the CO, & the Capt. asked a question, the CO chewed him out - letting him know that if he had paid attention to what I was saying he would have already known the answer to his question! I doubt that today he would cut it at OCS. My faith in the USMC is unwaivering, and I have no doubt that the vast majority of officers serving today are far from screwups. Semper Fi!!

Are you serious? I've seen many officers that got me wondering, how the hell did he even become an officer. Don't get me wrong I'd also seen some very high speed officers too. Here a story of my tank commander (1LT) in Korea. We were in the offense against the South Korea Army (ROK). We had received the OP order the night before. Everyone knew the mission and their roles, except my LT. He decided to take a detour and “counter attack” their armor units. We warned him, but he was too stubborn. We ended up throwing our track and getting hit by artillery. It was embarrassing and he got his a$$ rip by our Commander. There are many more stories like this. But right now I’m surrounded by officers who know their job and are pretty cool themselves.

The X.O. on my ship was a real screw up, He reminds me now of Maj. Burns on MASH. couldn't wait until he was in charge, one day our Captain was haloed off the ship for some early business in Guam, and the X.O. was charged with docking the ship, he decided he could to this with out the benefit of a tug, we side swiped a tender, ripped off a massive door, then rear ended a destroyer, this was not only embarrassing, but cost the repair gang their liberty for the 4 days we were in Guam.

Hell yeah.... did the 20 year gig in the AF (2A571J / Crew Chief) and saw OIC's (Officer in Charge) all the way to base commanders **** up. Pick an offense and I may have seen it or heard about it.

Do you ever thank the individuals or former individuals of the militia you run in to? I purely prefer to declare thank you on your provider to all who serve, or have served. i'm going to not continuously consider WHY you have been despatched the place ever you're/have been despatched, yet I thank you for serving. it ought to look cliche, yet i comprehend that freedom isn't loose and which you threat your lives so i could have the priviledges afforded to me as a citizen of this u . s .. thank you.

A good officer will listen to the NCO's. However there are some that just have to find out the hard way how things are run. Just go to militarycorruption.com and see for yourself.

Three years in the Marines and you never learned the difference between a 1LT and a 2LT?
