Milk contains tryptophan, which makes you feel sleepy and REM (deep sleep) is where dreams occur. It's probably not the cheese making you dream, just that you are sleeping, although I must admit, I have terrible nightmares if I eat pizza too late at night.

Some experts say it's not advisable to eat cheese late at night, as it's hard to digest. I guess eating a little wouldn't do you any harm. As to dreams, I doubt they have anything to do with cheese.

I think there is an additive in the cheese that makes you dream, but I am not exactly sure what it is.

Not sure, I heard on the radio that it's an old wives tale, and it turns out cheese actually helps you sleep!

I don't know but I can tell you that my Mum, b.1911 & hers b.1882 told me it did. Never had that effect on me, but "never eat cheese for supper" is likely based on experience.
