Depends on your interest in "old" Hollywood films, film stars and an orated history of the place.
If you are simply curious to see the inside, then it would be cheaper to buy a movie ticket for whatever current movie is playing there. It is rather ornate. Gaudy to some, beautiful to others.
Many tourists just visit the free outside courtyard with all the hand and footprints.
If you time it right, you might witness a modern day movie premiere, with red carpet and celebrities.

If you are in the area, and not pressed for time it is an OK experience, but not one you would care to repeat on a regular basis. At the present time is is called Mann's Chinese Theater, and its most prominent feature is all the hand and foot prints in the fore court (which is best seem at night under the lights). As far as the tour is concerned, it is just as easy to just buy a ticket to the movie that is currently playing. If you don't go to see it, it's not something you to loose any sleep over.

Yeh, it's actually an operating theater so that would be what to do there. Get there early and look around...Peedle, Mann's (a large theater chain) declared bankruptcy several years ago and in the process some how, the name Graumann's (or however you spell it) was restored as its official name. I know you like to keep on top of this stuff....LOL

No its not worth it, it's cool to see it but not go in it. Just walk around Hollywood and check out The Ivey or the Viper Room if you want something fancy.

i think hollywood's become something like gloria swanson in "sunset boulevard." faded and past it's prime.
i will grant that hollywood has gone through something of a revitalization in recent years.
however, i think it's worth see, if it's not too far out of your way, if only to gawk at the hordes of japanese tourists.
don't be surprised if you are disappointed.
