My husband was a swimmer and he introduced me to this idea:

Get a 1 mL syringe and fill it with plain rubbing alcohol. Tilt your head towards your shoulder and squeeze the alcohol into your ear. Let it sit for a few seconds. Then turn your head to the opposite shoulder and hop on the opposite foot. It sounds so silly but it really works!

You can also take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain as needed. There are also over the counter otic pain relievers. You can try them, too.

Good luck!

Here is a non herbal and non drug remedy that my grandmother used on me and my sister when we were little. Place a few drops of mineral oil in the ear and then place a cotton ball in it. Another remedy she used was that she would have us hold a heating pad on the lowest setting(wrapped in a towel) on the affected side of the head. If you choose take a recommended pain reliever and do this for a few hours before bed or when you have time. Good luck and I hope this helps.
