Which is the best defense weapon?

Last week someone broke into my house and I had nothing to defend myself with. Which is a better defense pistol a Walther P99 or a Desert Eagle?

Without going too far into the ethics or safety concerns of firearms in the home, if you are serious about using a gun for home protection, there are some basic things to look for in a weapon.

If your intented goal is to use this gun in your own home, you don't want something that is going to send bullets flying through walls, potentienally harming your own family in other rooms. Many bullets are powerful enough to travel through several house walls and still be lethal.

To answer your question, a shotgun tends to be the ideal home defense weapon. There are many types of shotgun loads, and you can easily pick one that can stop an intruder, without risking the safety of others in the home. As an added benefit, anyone who's seen an action movie knows the sound of a pump action shotgun racking a round into the chamber. Any intruder in your home is going to know that sound too, and know you're carrying a big gun, with a wide spray pattern, and even if he tries to run, your not going to miss.

The best home defense weapon is a shotgun. Less likely to penetrate the walls and potentially cause unintended harm. If you are set on a handgun, I would go with a small caliber (9mm or .380). What ever you decide on, be sure it is not too much gun to handle.

The best defense is a good offense. LOL. Seriously, you need a shotgun. It will be less likely to go through a nearby wall and hurt someone by accident. Such as a family member.

The best home defense weapon is a semi-auto 12 gauge shotgun with double-ought buckshot and a modified choke. I prefer Remington shotguns.
