I am transferring to a new city within my company. A coworker there is trying to hook me up with an acquaintance of hers. We already went to lunch once when I was there on business awhile back. I didn’t think much of it as I wasn’t planning on transferring at the time of the date. Neither a hell date nor no big fireworks. Now that I am moving the coworker is putting pressure on to see her again. That is fine, but then she tells me this girl went home from the bar with another coworker. They slept together and he was mean and sent her packing soon after they were done. Am I wrong to not want anything to do with her? How do I tell my coworker?

The coworker is taken. It was definitely too much information. She was telling me related to how the other guy in the office treats girls badly, and yet also how this girl was upset about this or something.

Oy! She should never have shared that little detail about a woman she is trying to set you up with. You need to be as pushy as she is being and tell her 'Thanks but I am not interested.' She will get over it....and if she doesn't, oh well.

I think it's her own darn fault for telling you that about the other girl...why in the name of God did she do that? Is she single? Is she subtely manipulating this to make her appear less desirable so she can go after you herself?

Since you are starting work there....tell your coworker that you dont' want to mix office life with personal life. It's a good answer that should satisfy her. Since there were no fireworks....why risk ruining office relationships because someone feels slighted, jealous, whatever.

Just tell your coworker that you aren't comfortable dating a friend of hers since you two work together. Tell her that your relationship with her, as a coworker, is more important than a possible romantic connection with her friend!!
