what do you want to know about it? its ancient history, 20th century history, or modern day stuff, languages culture etc...

they got invaded by japan in 1931 in manchuria (northern china), china then was weak, each area being controlled by a different warlord, during WW2 the nationalists led by chiang kai shek, and the commies led by mao tse dong fought each other as much as they fought the japanese, the communists came out on top in the end and that resulted in much death as mao's cultural revolution and industrialisation left millions dead from hunger and persecution
china opened up in the 80's and has since become a leading power in economy, with a large population and national pride it is set to overtake the US economy in 2025

china is like the u.s. in the 1940's most people are not rich like in the u.s. most people don't have cars. most transportation is public transportation, taxi, bus, subway. there are many mcdonald's, pizza huts, KFC's in china. chinese food in the u.s. is nothing like the food in china.
my wife is from china and american women could learn a lot from chinese women.
