When she is upset, I will hold her and try to comfort her, but then the next day or so she says that holding her is not being supportive when she cries. I do not know what else to do. She can't explain what she means, except that I am not supportive. At this point, I don't even know what supportive means anymore.

She has been very upset lately because her dog is very sick. I too am very upset as I love that dog very much, he is such a good boy. So when she goes to bed in tears and I hold her, I really honestly don't know what else to do. I have been spending extra time with the dog giving him lots of love, I have been trying to comfort her, but she keeps telling me that I am not being supportive. This is why I need help, because she simply can't tell me what she means by being supportive, except that I am not it.
