I never received child support when my children were young from their father even though it was ordered?

Question

why then can the state garnish my paycheck and not the deadbeat dad for when my 16 yr old was a ward of the state for a year (now 28)...I never received child support pmts but was supposed to...I asked versions of this question earlier but the answers seem to be I owe the state for clothing and feeding my son for a year BUT I never received court ordered child support when he was younger and also paid mucho in fines when he was a juvenille and his father again never paid anything

you AND your ex owes for the state paying for your child.

your EX owes a percent of your sons fines, i would think (some states split it).

if you had a court order for Child Support, then he STILL OWES IT TO YOU. gone are the days of hiding til the child is 18; today, arrears are FORVER.

today, they dont care if that child is 30 and getting married.. he still owes, and you still can sue him. many cases like this are popping up all over the country (and winning).

you need to contact the caseworker and write a letter...
1) call your caseworker and ask:
--where you apply for interest on the arrears?
--was the case submitted for tax refund intercept?
--was the arrears reported to the credit reporting agencies yet?

2) sit down and write a letter. in it, give your contact info, case number, his info, arrears amount, him never paying support and still owing it. the STATE not enforceing the court order and your life (and that of your child) paying the price by being forced to live in poverty, forced to live in a bad neighborhood, your son getting caught up in the wrong crowd because of it.... and ask them what they are doing about it. ask them why there is no lein on his bank accounts. ask why there is no leins on his properties or paychecks or tax returns. ask why they have not taken his drivers license, or why there is no warrant out for his arrest for DECADES of not paying...

keep the letter short, its more effective that way.

then take that ONE letter and FAX it to the following:
a) your states Attorney General (link is below)
b) your states Governor (link is below)
c) your states Regional FEDERAL Child Support Office (link is below)

phone calls are useless; they are ignored, denied and forgotten. mail ends up on someones "to do" pile, but FAXES are effective. its proof you sent it and proof they recieved it, therefor, they HAVE to address it. if you cant find a fax number (most are listed online) then just call them and ask for it.

if you hear nothing in a week, fax them again. fax them weekly if need be. its the squeaky wheel that gets the oil, if ya know what i mean.

who cares if you miff 'em off, they dropped the ball for decades.. and its time for them to make it right.

3) post his DEADBEAT FACE ON A DEADBEAT SITE ONLINE.

If the garnishment is for costs related to your son see if you can have part of the garnishment put on him for payment. Talk to the agency that is putting the garnishment on your check and see if this can be done.

call the court who order him to pay, it a long slow process but once started they can go after him, it will help if you can give them his current address, job location, any bank info, 401k, retirement info, lic info, child support enforcement can be a bear when they get started.
