Advice for foreign exchange students?

What would you put in a survival mannual for students who arrive from aborad with little understanding of american culture and behavior patterns. They will know english enough to be able to speak it and read it but what will they need to know in order to get along during their first couple weeks at school. like what are some folkways and symbols that are in high school?

Watch a lot of Television, it should help ^_^ I think that as long as you're kind to people, things will work out ok. :D
