I wouldn't, depending on their age and developmental level anyway. Flip flops should really only be used for swimming and for kids it can be detrimental to their development, especially if your child is a toddler. A better alternative to flip flops would be any sort of sandal with a strap over the back of the foot. It's more sturdy and provides more protection for younger feet. Flip flops are really not a safe shoe for anyone, as they can cause a lot of health problems(see below). And the small rubber old navy flip flop should be restricted for shower/swim use.
Hope that helped!

I have a 6 year old & I bought him some flip flops for the beach. However his dad had a fit b/c he said it was a thong flip flop & he threw them away & he went & bought him some Nike slide on sandals with the strap across the foot. So maybe not for a boy in some cases but i didn't see what the big deal was???

my mom used to not let me wear flip flops to school, but she didn't have a problem letting me wear them other places. i think the only reason she didn't let me wear them to school was that when i was in middle school, the school didn't allow it, so she figured my high school would have the same rule. it took me an entire year to convince her she was wrong.

I don't exactly see the problem with wearing flip flop sandals...they are rather comfy and breezy. =)

Around my pool deck, and at a public shower. Other than that, I find them unsafe. Children romp around, climb and play, they need proper footware.

She can't wear them at school because they don't allow it and I don't let her wear them if she's going to ride her bike. But other than that, sure.
