A really nice hotel doesn't necessarilly mean an upscale hotel, so i'd go between $5 and $10, but it all depends on the service and the quantity of luggage he helped you with.

Well, a rule of thumb worlwide is $1 (or the foreign equivalent) for each piece of luggage, but at least $2.
It also depends on who nice was the service, but in general that's it.
