Thanks:) Are there any more things i can tell them? Maybe like, it was difficult for me getting mail on time because i was away at school? I need as many excuses as i can come up with. also, should i tell my parents?? they're gonna kill me!

Jury subpoenas must be hand delivered in order to be properly served. Although most courts just mail them via 1st class mail, they are not considered properly served and therefore no action can be taken against you for non-compliance. The courts know this and you can rest assured that there will be no fine and no bench warrant.

I've tossed several jury subpoenas both State and Federal in the trash that were not properly served and delivered via postal mail without repercussions

Jury duty is a legal obligation. Yes, you are in some hot water.

However, if you go to the assigned class and apologize, they might just give you a nasty lecture and make you fill out the paperwork right there in front of them. That's the easy way to get out of your situation.

The hard way is to ignore it again or be flippant at the class/meeting -- then you can fork over you $250 and probably some community service as well.

It's a scare tactic - call jury Selection and say you lost the original notice and you'll be fine.

you have committed contempt of court, it's up to the judge how much you will be fined.

Not if you do what they say.
