We're switching from dry cat food to wet cat food because our kitten is allergic to something in the dry. Our cats are use to dry food being left out all the time for them to munch on whenever they want to. Now that we're changing to wet, they're only going to be fed twice a day. One cat is 2 years old, about 12 lbs and the other is 7 mos and about 7 lbs. Would a can a day each be enough? I read that kittens should get twice as much food, that's why they would have equal amounts.

Thanks!

Its probably the corn or wheat in dry cat food that your kitty's are sensitive to.

I suggest you give them Natural Balance or Innova caned cat food. Both have nothing whatsoever to do with Menufoods processing plant. Natural Balance has their petfood processed in Utah. Anyway, I recently switched to Natural Balance canned cat food and discovered that the food is so ingredient rich (especially in vital human grade proteins - it has four protein sources) that my 14 lb cat is satisfied with 3/4 of a can to 1 can (6oz) per day. I always mix my cats' canned cat food with water - 2 teaspoons per serving. Your 7lb cat may need even less.

A can a day each in two servings should be enough for both cats. A 7 month old is beyond needing more feedings than that a day.

Poor quality canned food won't be good for either of them. Put you $$ into Natural Balance, Innova, Lick Your Chops, Avederm, Blue etc. Wellness foods are raising my suspicions right now and I do use some. Both the Wellness and Natural Balance have the 3oz. cans and you might pick up some of those (though it is more expensive to buy that way). If the two cans don't seem to be enough you can add a small can daily in addition to the two large ones.

1ST what is in the dry is still going to be in the wet food.
and i being the owner of many cats in my life found out that dry is better for this reason;
only give dry food and NO fish flavors!
the wet and fish flavors for some reason don't do as well as dry none fish flavors. Many cat's get urinary tract and owners mistake this for cat in heat etc

take my advice stick to dry food, No fish flavors, and most come with the right portions to give on the back of the bag.

That sounds about right. Assuming a can is 5.5 to 6 oz, that is.

You can always adjust up or down as needed, but that's a good starting point.
