When looking at other religions, do you try to look at it from their perspective, or do you use your biases to determine your stand?

Both.

Understand the religion internally so you can have a dialogue with people of that religion.

I once hit a low point in my spirituality, questioning if what I was raised to believe in was really the right religion for me. I looked around, learned about what I could from other religions. Eventually I came to the conclusion that Christianity just made more sense to me than the others.

First I talk to a true follower of that religion, to see how it affects people. Then I go through it's teachings and use my own reason and common sense to find which beliefs to adopt as my own...

I don't really have a "stand" on any religion, just individual beliefs...

I use my biases. My religion isn't particularly logical, and certainly isn't based on good science or good history. I bet yours is like that too.

I think I need a bigger box!
