Depends on the area you get them and how good the tattoo artist is, the first one I got just felt like I was scratching myself in that area. The last 3 hurt a bit more, but they were done by a different tatttoo artist then the first one.

I have a rose on my upper chest. It depends on your pain threshold which is entirely personal. Mine just felt very very hot whilst I was getting it with no pain after. My daughter was different she said hers ,which is near her hip, felt like it was going right through her. She concentrated on something else while he was doing it so she didn't think about her pain. You won't know till it starts and you do get used to it as it progresses. I enjoy my rose. Good luck with your butterfly.

I have a butterfly on my left breast. It didnt hurt at all but it was very annoying. Just feels like a needle constantly scraping you. Mostly a pinch nothing severe. After a few minutes it went numb anyway.

I just got my first one ever done today on my hip. Honestly it wasn't that bad. The only thing that kind of hurt was when he was working on my hip bone--and then it hurt like a b-word. Other than that it just feels like annoying or irritating little pinches that don't stop. Don't worry--it's tollerable. I was there for 2 1/2 hours.

The area you want it might sting a little bit. I am covered in them, I got one in that area, and it hurt a bit at first. After your body gets used to the needle, it starts to feel a bit like a sunburn. Ask your artist for reassurance, they might have a heavy hand. Good luck!

It depends where you get it & your tolerance 4 pain. I have 9. Upper body doesn't hurt as much. Lower back was the worst.

Mine felt like bee stings....lots and lots of bee stings. After about 5-10 min though, your body adjusts to the feeling. Never goes numb but it's not so bad...

It feels like you are getting pinched - constantly, until it's done. It's more of an annoyance than pain really, but the end result is fabulous!
