We have been together nearly 3 years, and every thing was fine in the begining. he was respectful and did things like take me out for dinner or to the movies but, now every thing has changed. hes always talking down to me like im not as important as he is! Most of the time its in a joking manner but he dose it so often, i think its just disrespectfu, expesialy when he dose it i n front of other people. Ive tryed telling him just how much it bothers me and he tells me hes only joking around. im not sure what to do to let him know hes the one whos lucky to be with me and i want some more respect!

That's just a guy's way of covering up what he's really saying! Haven't you ever heard that said about when someone jokes around, they really are meaning it?
My Ex used to yell at me in front of other people, so I know how it makes you feel small when he treats you disrespectful in front of others.!
Well, next time he he does this sort of thing, just to you or to you in front of other people, put him in his place! Make him feel stupid! Say something back and get mad and he'll get your essage loud and clear! I'm sure he won't pull the crap ever again!

You can't love someone if you don't respect them. He's hurting you and he's not stopping. Either put your foot down or leave.
