I believe, like you, he is having a hard time letting go. He may just be calling you these 'horrible things' (which is rude of him.) Because that's his way of trying to get over you. Tellin' it to himself out loud that he hates you because your this, this and that. 'N' what not. It all depends on the guy really. If you think he would do something like that.?
If your not sure or anything, if you don't think he is the kind of person to do this,(which mostly males are. Because males don't have emotions 'N' what not.) Then I suggest you talk to him.
If it comes down to it, then tell him you know that hes kept your letters, and you want to know why. you've seen him looking at you, and you want to know why. he may just say...he probably will say that it's nothing, or not what you think, or possible even insult you again. But it'll be worth it when the time comes.
Hope that helped.
Much luck!

It sounds like he's a fourth grader. He thinks he can put you down all the time because guys think that's what women want, and obviously it kinda is. I say that cause it gets you thinking about it. Instead of just forgetting about him you keep thinking about the state of things between you two. If he keeps all your things he obviously still likes you, but the real question is how does he like you. Cause if he is checking you out all the time, but is constantly disrespecting you it means either he is too afraid of his friends or he just wants you as a friend with benefits. Chances are he does like you, but he's not enough of a man to stand up to his peers and declare that he is a person with feelings. You both sound younger than twenty year olds, so I'd say you should just make fun of him as much as you can. Just rag on him every chance you get, cause he's obviously a little boy and he just wants to play games with you. If he doesn't break down and cry, his true feelings for you will soon emerge.

Girlfriend, it appears you do not know the characteristics of an Abuser.
You can never win with an Abuser. You can't change them and they will never change. They are immature, they throw tantrums and get abusive when they do not get their way.
It does not mean they do not like what they see and it doesn't stop them from even wanting some.
That a guy has an erection when he sees you does not mean, he cares about you.
You should never be with someone because when they look at you they are drooling, a relationship without RESPECT will not last and when it ends you become hurt and then you graduate to an angry, bitter woman because you have been subjected under abuse.
Girlfriend, look around you, look at the number of women that are in relationship dramas, do they look like they are happy with their lives? No! they are not.
Look for yourself a guy who knows your true worth. A guy that does not resort to name calling, when he doesn't get his way, part of it is his mother's fault, they let him throw tantrums when he was small and now he thinks he has to do it to get his way.
Don't go to see his mother anymore, so you do not get sucked back into an abusive relationship.
Check the profile of an abuser on the Internet, just go to google and type in 'abuser'.

oh man girl i have been in the SAME PLACE
i have two words for you :RUN AWAY
now i know your sick of hearing that- so ill explain... It didnt work out the first time- and it wont work out the next 250983489576290 times, but no matter how many times people tell you that you won't be able to let him go untill something clicks, or snaps and your heart is just done. If he is being mean and calling you mean things he is obviously not mature enough to hold a good relationship, but of course with first loves all we see is who they could be or who they were- not who they are. I am sure he still thinks about you, and im sure he misses you otherwise he wouldnt go through the work of calling you names. BUT I am also sure that since he is doing that - you are better of with out him.

Hey.......he's playing with you. I can't tell whether he still likes you or not....but hey...give yourself some self respect!
He shouldn't be doing what he's doing...just think about it...if you ever get back together wouldn't it be weird after all the things he had done?! AND...by the way..my first love (about four months ago) kinda did the same thing to me...she had started acting like a b***** and I had a really really hard time ignoring her..just to see what happens. Anyway, I had tried for like a month but I kept giving her lots of attention....well I finally got over it like three weeks ago and she had noticed it (even though I still have lots of feeling for her right now) )...and I can see that she's kinda sorry for what she did.....
Just really ignore....you should have some respect for yourself!

If you ask me he is just a boy, they are not hard to come in this nearly overpopulated world. If you still have feelings for him play hard to catch, flirt but then don't talk to him for the rest of the day or week, your pick. Obviously he likes you or wouldn't ask you keep those numbers on your phone. Maybe though he wants to be able to stalk you. In any case if you like him he will probably be easy to get. IF you don't like him ignore him and everything he says , delete the numbers from your phone and have nothing to do with him.

Ok to be honest and I'm sorry if this may sound a little harsh but he can still think your hott, or be physically attracted to you without wanting to be with you. And to be honest thats what it sounds like. As far as the name calling that might be his way to get over you. Many people try to put down their ex-partner to make themselves feel better about the situation being over with. Because lets face it if your ex is really that bad, whats to be hung up on? Now this is what it sounds like to me. It sounds like he is still physically attracted to you, but to in an attempt to get over you is putting you down to more convince himself that this is the right thing to do.
Now for your responce to all of this, in my opinion if someone is just talking bad about you then they are not worth your time. If the family likes you enough to invite you to dinner then you must be a pretty sweet girl. And if your ex can't stop checking you out after all he is doing to stay away from you, then you also sound pretty attractive. So I'm sure you can find someone who will treat you right.

He still thinks your hot.
Finding someone attractive and loving them are 2 different things. He is probably have some sort of fantasy or maybe even you what about you;)
As a guy I do the you what about people that I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole in reality;)
Stay friends if you must. He is too immature to be with you in front of his friends it sounds like. You need to be with someone who is proud to be seen with you, or at least not ashamed like your ex is. Of course he'll be nice when no one is looking. When they are looking, however, he has an image to maintain.
Nothing against you, friends are more important to him. He can't handle being busted on by them about having a serious relationship. If he is involved with you, that is the first thing they are going to think, "it must be serious."
Don't fall for it. He is going to use you if you take him back.
This happened to my wife her whole life. I don't know why she insist on being such close friends with Xs.

He seems like an amature. Forget about him completely hes just using u as a back up girlfriend. He's afraid if he ever breaks up with a girl or loses it all he has u. Don't ask him out...ignore him if not just act like u don't care. He's trying to be all coool with the break up and right now the way ur describing the behavior it sounds like hes acting more like an idiot. Just decide weather ur gonna give him ur heart again and let him tare it in two pieces. Follow ur heart hun:) good luck

This is one long run on sentence and I'm having trouble. It appears he is hurt from your break up and is trying to make you just hurt. If you feel "safe" taking to him, follow the advice of the other people in this answer. If not get away from him and stay from him for your own safety. Report him to school and public authorities and your parents.
Remember in romantic relations, men and boys want it worse than you do. So unless you are ugly, have annoying habits, or are clueless you should have no trouble getting another boyfriend who will not treat you like this.
