I had this done 8 years ago with a smallish (1/2cm) size mole. The procedure was done under local anaesthetic, by a cosmetic plastic surgeon. The scar is still visible, especially when I tan. The scar is actually bigger than the mole was, but I knew this would be the case before I went ahead. Your GP can refer you to a good private surgeon, it will cost approx £300, but you can check everything, including costs at an initial consultation, which is usually free. I have never regretted having mine removed, but do be really sure it is the right decision for you, as there's no going back!

First I agree with sustasue.
2nd, I had a mole removed on my face about 7 years ago....It didn't hurt only a small band-aid for a couple days. Now if you aren't looking for it you really don't notice where it was. I have pale skin so there really isn't much of a scar at all.
I'm in the us and it cost $100 and was defiantly worth it. And they also just checked the mole and confirmed that it had no form of cancer in it.

Go to your GP and have it removed! It doesn't cost anything, can be done in a few minutes depending on the method theyt use! You may have to make an appointment but it's usually done in the surgery! It may also leave a scar so consider where it is first.
Personally I'd leave it unless it is growing, itching or changing in some way in which case GO to GP as soon as you can.

You can get a mole as well as other marks on the face removed free on the NHS if you see your GP. I had a spot with loads of spidery blood vessels around it near my eye and was told that if it didn't clear up itself, I could have free laser surgery - luckily it cleared up!
If you want to go private ask your Gp for recommendations or if you don't have one, just Google it and you should get a list of hospitals that perform that procedure privately.

I'm in the USA, and I'm having one removed the 30th of this month, so I know how you feel. The dermatologist is going to perform this service in my primary doctors office. From what I understand, a chemical will be applied to it and it will sort of deaden the nerves so that it will pretty much sluff off on it's own. I can't wait. I'm sick of the little bugger that's taken up residence on my face. It doesn't even pay rent! Anyway, I wish you luck.

Go to a reputable Dermatologist whatever you do and know that many moles should not be removed. So it is very important to be advised by an ethical Doctor. Good luck!

As has been stated by most of the replies to your question, you might consult your GP. I have no knowledge of the cost of this treatment in the London area, I would estimate around two hundred pounds, depending on the size and location of the mole. If, however, you wish to seek private medical assistance, I add the following links –

If you do get your mole removed there will be a base ball sized football shaped scar.

Go to your G.P. they will sometimes do it themselves or refer you to a hospital... It shouldn`t cost you, as it will be done under the NHS.....If anyone is worried about a mole they should always have it checked out as it could be or become a melanoma.
