My older sister just had to get her wisdom teether pulled. Turns out she had 5 not 4! She's in a lot of pain.. so we've been freezing washcloths. The cloths seem to melt as soon as she uses them. m being a good sister and taking care of her while my mom is at a funeral! LOL! Well, I feel really bad for her.. any ideas other then frozen wash cloths?

She's 19. She's not allowed to have anything too hot or too cold, because her gums are still swollen. Thanks though!!!

DO NOT HAVE HER SUCK ON ANYTHING (popsicles, straws, etc)! That will dislodge the clots and her body will not be able to heal the wounds she has in her mouth and it can lead to complications. I would also not recommend lying down as her swelling will increase. Have her sit up in a comfortable position. Also, have her talk as much as possible (that she can do without too much discomfort) as that will help to allieviate the swelling and bruising. Lots of ice, 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off, repeat. Rest, liquids, and keep being the awesome sister you are!

DO NOT have her swish her mouth with salty water.....that can dislodge the clots, which causes a very painful condition called dry socket!!
If she is over 12, she can take up to 4 Ibuprofen capsules (like Motrin) twice a day. That will help the pain a lot.

If it doesn't start to feel a lot better in another 24 hours, call the dentist for a prescription pain medicine.

have her sit upright while watching TV if she wants. give her some Advil to relieve the pain. wrap ice inside the frozen washcloth. put the washcloth-wrapped ice inside a plastic baggie. have her use those. remember the Advil!! maybe make her a yummy cold smoothie or shake. use extra ice when you make it. i think you should make this one.

Chocolate Shake:
1 1/2 cups of ice
2 cups of milk
half the can of sweetened condensed milk
a scoop of vanilla ice cream
a lot of nesquick powder.
( if you don't have nesquick powder, you can substitute the vanilla ice cream with 2-3 scoops of chocolate ice cream)

make sure she has a lot of cold stuff. A LOT!!!

The best thing to treat it is to take a pain killer and drink some very cold water. and that should calm down her pain a bit.
That worked for me!
