Dieting will not make you grow. You shouldn't fall for those lose weight fast diets they will only stunt your growth or make you overweight. You will grow until you are 18 years old if you are a girl and 21 if you are a boy. The best diet is the Oz diet, it isn't like normal diets it is controlling the types of food that put on weight. You can get information about it online and you can get the book for $12.95 at stores like Wal-mart. I love this book is straight forward with a twist of humor. It is the easiest diet I've followed and you don't have to count calories, carbs or stand on the scales. You measure your waist to see results and you eliminate 5 basic ingredients from you diet.

White flour,
White sugar,
High Fructose Corn Syrup (this one is the biggie)
any partially hydrogenated or hyrdrogenated foods and transfats.

Just read the labels, if any of these ingredients are within the first five ingredients they are what makes a person gain weight. It's not the amount, it is what is in the food. Check it out.

Check out Oprah.com! Goodluck!

At 14, weight loss should not be an issue for you. If you enjoying exercising, then you are likely on the right track. What you should be concerned with at your age is your choice of food intake. You want to be sure to get enough calories and fiber in your diet while limiting fats and sugars. Natural sugars are OK, i.e. fruits. Your body is growing, so it needs all the nutrients it can get. Stay active and watch the types of foods you eat. Removing sodas, if you drink them, is a great start. They are loaded with sugars and empty calories. Maybe doing a food journal for a week would help you track how many times a day you snack, what types of food you eat and when you eat.

I would say up your cardio-maybe join in a new sport at school. Stay away from dieting however, you might want to cut down some of your carbs: bread, potatoes, rice etc and eat more lean protein like turkey, tofu, beef. Relax and enjoy, you are only 14.
I actually learned alot about what foods to cut out by reading the Fat Flush book-it gives you sample meals that are balanced!

squats and crunches will only build muscle, so you need some sort of exercise to get your heart rate going to actually lose weight. eat healthy, drink lots of water (8 cups a day), and do exercise that you are comfortable with. riding a bike, push ups, crunches, jumping jacks, and squats are all good ways to tone up and lose weight. but remember, if you're 14, you're still young and growing and it's definitely an awkward age...so try to feel confident about yourself. :)

As long as you increase your cardio workout, you'll lose weight. But don't go overboard. 30 minutes a couple times a week will do you good probably. Well, 30 minutes a couple times a week will do anyone good. Just remember to try to add in some weight lifting, because your body continues to burn calories long after you're done---once you lift weights.
Push ups and crunches are excellent.

Studies have shown that actually cardio burns calories for just a short time after you stop working out while doing wieght lifting can have you burning calories for up to 48 hours after working out...don't like wieghts? try doing circuit training, try the Abs diet...mostly about exercise, but it definately helped me... Also for every 6 pounds of muscle that you gain, you burn 300 extra calories a day just sitting there because muscles take more energy for you body to maintain...so it builds on itself. Also the 'diet' part is all about healthy, fun eating and it is actually good...it doesn't encourage cutting out valuable nutrients that you body needs, like carbs or fruits and veggies...
