I'm unsure of what you are asking, but if you & your father are interesting in adopting a Rottweiler, and your mother is not...

Try taking her with you both, to a local shelter, to look at the Rottweilers in need of homes (I assure you, you'll find them. Rottweilers are sadly common in shelters).

She might be more accepting to the idea of bringing a Rottweiler into the home, if she meets the dog first and knows that she'll be saving a life in the process.

P.S. I love the name ''Sarge'' for a male Rottweiler. ''Sierra'' for a female.

Since there are 2 of you then you win. Get the Rottie but be the one (meaning you and your dad) responsible for the dog. You have to be the one feeding. grooming. walking. taking care of the poop...and yes the visits to the vet. Never expect your mom to share in the responsibilities in having a dog becuase she never wanted one in the first place. But hey... I don't think she can ignore your new friend for very long. Dogs are wonderful creatures so good luck!

my mom and dad were against me getting a rottweiler. Then my boyfriend got me one for christmas. As soon as i brung Lexus home my mom and my dad fell in love with her. She is just a big baby. She will come in the house and just flop down in front of the heater or the a/c(depending on the season) everyone thinks that is so funny because the house shakes when she does it. she weighs about 100 pounds now and is just as sweet as ever. she loves everyone, adults children, other dogs and cats. my chiuauah thinks that she is bigger than lexus and daisy just chews and likes on her they sleep togeter and just love one another.

I also have a 100 pound male rottie named Zeus. He is just as sweet as lexie but no where near as lazy. He does not like other male dogs which is typical in unaltered males so we keep him on a chain most of the time when we are not there. He is so funny(or stupid i can't decide) he chases dirt!! he will take his paw and slap at it and then chase it ALL DAY LONG.

My parents always thought that they were mean dogs and now they will get fighting mad when someone says something mean or just plain stupid about rottweilers. so my advice would be to take your mother somewhere where she can meet some(perferably puppies they look like little bears and you just want to cuddle them) and then she will see what they are like and come aroud to wanting one also.

Some rottweilers make great family guard dogs unlike mine who will let anyone come into the yard or house as long as they get petted by them. I have chows to protect my rottweilers and my house

I love Rotties too, sweet for the most part.

And, really, text messaging is absolutely destroying your ability to communicate.

I vote for you and your dad. My friends have a girl named Satchmo and had a lovely gigantor rottie named Beau who already crossed that rainbow bridge. He was a love.

I love Rotties! They are sweet, intelligent and all around wonderful dogs. However, they require a lot of consistent discipline and supervision!

I had two beautiful females, Azra and Niketa.

1. Show your mother how sweet rottweilers can be and consider some sort of compromise (ie small, trained girl vs. boisterous male puppy).

2. Name your dog Merlin because there's not going to be another rottweiler named that.

3. Retype your question.

i think the best way is to tell your mom about the advantages and disadvantages of having a dog or none in your home. i think POKNAT is the unique one for your rottwiller

i think you should get one. your mom has probably just heard rumors about rowttwiler and how mean they are, but their not all like that. most of the ones that are mean were trained to be mean so they can fight against other dogs so their owner can win some money. i like the names max, maria, sam, rocky, but if you get one wait and see how its personality is that way you can base his/her name on that. like if your dog happens to be nosey name him/her nosey.

If everyone in the home does not agree on getting a dog then do not get one. If you do get one, then for names Amber for a girl, gonzo for a boy.
