First of all, is life really necessary? Second, is it moral to make someone live here? Third, can't you personally save several people from suffering and dying this way more effectively than any other? Should we start with the "man in the mirror", and just end it?

It'd certainly be effective. Sterilize the whole human race, and within a few decades, this planet can get back on track.

Hopefully our successors, assuming tool-using self-aware and creative beings evolve again on this planet, will find our relics and learn quickly from our total societal collapse how NOT to build a society.

I think you need to find that special someone. That is the craziest question I have read thus far. What does stopping reproduction have to do with the end of suffering? Atheists don't believe that. Well, none that I know anyways. Education and a helping hand will help end suffering.

1. that will not end the suffering of those already alive.
2. That is an annihilation theory that for one believes death is the answer and for two thinks that we can somehow stop nature from reproducing. I mean, have you seen how many people there are?

No, what makes you think Atheists believe that?

Personally, I think there's no way to end all suffering, but not believing in an afterlife, I believe that you have only one chance to do everything you possibly can for the world.

I think we can end suffering other ways other than killing off the human race.
Will we? Well that is another question.
Do I think life is necessary. NO, I don't. If everything is dead, we wouldn't know we don't exist. Correct.

You sound slightly nihilistic.

This question reminds me of the Bugs Bunny cartoon where Marvin the Martian was going to solve the Earth's fuel problem.... by blowing it up.

No.. the best way is to cultivate altruism in our own minds... you can reproduce like bunnies, but unless you teach altruism and work at stopping behaviors that cause harm... suffering will keep on comin'...

BTW, anybody ever notice how BAD I SUCK at punctuation?

Of course not the best way is for everyone to kill themselves. That would end suffering for sure.
