Hello Jackie, the daily amount of calories one should eat per day is 1500 for a female and 2500 for a man.
Having just got out of hospital I have found that the following exercises which were recommended to me work really well. They're great exercises. I would, however, add Kegel's to that list and start doing them soon after surgery, too (check with your doc first).
Kegel exercises are for strengthening the muscles of the pelvic floor to help prevent leakage of urine with coughing, sneezing, running, or from a full bladder. There are two main muscles between your legs that do most of the work and just like other muscles they will get stronger with repetitive use. You can do those exercises while driving, watching TV, reading, etc. Just pull in the pelvic muscles and hold for about 10 seconds. Then relax for 10 seconds and repeat 10 times. Do sets of 10 several times during the day and you may notice improved bladder control after about 4-8 weeks. The trick is to try to keep the pelvic muscles tight and the abdominal muscles relaxed. It will take some practice, like rubbing your belly and patting your head at the same time, but be patient, keep at it, and it will pay off.
Ankle pumps: you can either make ankle circles, moving your feet in a circular path, or alternately point and flex your feet. This keeps the blood flowing in your lower legs to help prevent blood clot formation.
Thigh setting: with your legs straight on the bed in front of you, tighten up the muscle on the top of your thigh by pushing the back of the knee down into the bed. Hold this for about 3 seconds and then completely relax. Repeat the recommended number of times.
Butt setting: same thing--tighten up those gluteal (butt) muscles and hold for 3 seconds. Relax completely. Repeat the recommended number of times.
It's nice of your doc to give you things to work on to keep up your muscle tone and help prevent complications with blood clots.
Good luck!

for women the daily amount is 1500 or 2000 calories not sure to be honest i never calorie count...uurm well if you feel up to exercise to tone yor tummy muscles you need to do some jogging or cycling on a stationary bike..UUrmm you have to do crunches do 25 the first day then slowly bring them up till you can do 125...your stomache muscles will get stronger...If you have any energy let do some sit ups. Hip raises and leg ups are exercises used to make your lower abdomin(make your waist look good) firmer and stronger. good luck

you MUST wait the full 12 weeks with a hystectomy, i didn't and got into a right mess. I ended back up in hospital. Swimming would be the best exercise, which will tone you up all over. and i'd say the normal carolies for a woman is around 1500

stomach crunches are probably best to tone up your tummy muscles, however, this will not give you a 6 pack if you have fat covering them.
The recommended daily amount of calories for women is 2000 cals (to maintain weight) and 1500 cals (to lose weight).
