They cement them to your teeth, take about three hours and you have to sit still. Had it down over then years ago.

Here's what they did for me:
First they took me into the x-ray room and took some panoramic x-rays (about 3 or 4).
After that they took some pictures of me, kind of like a before and after type thing.
Then they took molds of my teeth, this felt kind of gross.
Then the hygienist polished my teeth.
Then they apply some glue, stick the bracket on, then apply a curing light. They do this for each tooth.
When all the brackets are on, they put the archwire through.
Then you're done! They might give you a little goody bag and some basic instructions.
Don't worry, I was scared to, but I realized I had nothing to worry about. They don't hurt that bad, Motrin takes care of everything. You might not feel like eating for a few days, but that's normal.
Good luck!

i had braces for a yr and well, the dentist just basically glues the brackets to your teeth and then weaves the wire through the brackets. This process does not hurt at all but you will be sore a few hours later or the next day. The soreness will last for a few days...but hey its worth having a nice beautiful smile!
PS when choosing what color you want for the rubber bands do not choose white because they will eventually turn yellow and make your teeth look dirty!

When the Orthodontist puts on braces, he basically fits them for your mouth. First, he/she finds thier position and puts glue on them. Then he/she puts them on. Next, they use a special light that dries the glue quickly. Then, after putting in your wire and holding it in place with rubber band like things, you are done. The whole process doesnt hurt except you may feel some pressure on your teeth.

they have this mouth stretcher and it kind of hurts because its stretching your mouth (duh). then they put these metal rings around your molers. then they clean your teeth and put a coating of clear stuff on it then they put the brackets on and then they cement it (they use a laser to make the brackets stick). then they do some adjusting if necessary and your almost done. the most time consuming thing is the positioning of the brackets.
my braces hurt for like a week, eat noodles and soups and other soft stuff.
ps, dont move your mouth or dont think about itching your chin (i learned that the hard way).

well they have some kind of cement stuff that they put on each tooth and stick the brace on there... then they run a wire through each brace and put a band on them to keep the wire in place.... my braces bothered me for a week or so and then each time i went back and they did something different. once you get use to them they are fine

well, it doesn't hurt when they put them on. but the day after, be prepared. it will feel like someone hit you in the teeth with a baseball. you will have this "baseball" feeling until about the end of the week. i recommend taking Advil or Tylenol. how they put them on is shown in this link.

dont worry i got them on a 2 years ago...i got them off june 8 2006.
here is what they do
1.they fit the right sized brace on your teeth
2. then they fit the brace around the molars
3. then they put this cement stuff that looks like chapstick on your teeth
4. then they put the braces on
5. they put this light thing on you melt the cement...and then they clean your mouth up.
6. you got braces on in 45min-1 hour
braces will hurt for about 2 days...soft food would be the best to eat!
