The reason dog feces is white is from eating bones. The reason you do not see it too often is because people believe feeding bones to dogs is wrong. I see it all the time since I feed my dogs raw foods and bones.
Decomposition also turns feces white but it takes a FEW days before it starts turning white so maybe people are picking up after their dogs more.

White or cream coloured dog poo usually comes from the lucky dogs whose owners really understand their dogs dietary needs and feed them a raw diet which contains a good proportion of bone. I also believe it to be the case that owners who feed their dogs appropriately are also the most socially responsible, and will always clean up after their dog has "done". I'm sure this is the reason that you seldom see a "white one"

I don't really have the answer but me and my friend were wondering the exact same thing the other week - when I was a small child there was loads of white dog pooh and now - it's all gone. The only answer we could come up with was that responsible pet owners scoop the poop - especially the white ones !!!!!! - not sure this helps though

bones cause white poo, also if it has been left out in the elements for a few days, but as most responsable people pick up dog faeces you wont see it so often

well, if you have been cleaning it before a week has past you won't be able to see it. Dog poo turns white when breaking down. You can leave it there and the grass will just grow greener and softer.

It goes white when it's old and dried out. These days dog owners have to clean up after their dogs or else they get fined.
Do you really miss it?!

It is dog poo which is decomposing, and I don't kno why you don't see it anymore. If it is not decomposing poo, then it probably came from a sick dog, probably with liver problems.

yep, dogs fed the raw diet have white poop more often. There is also less wasted stuff in the poop so its smaller and breaks down faster.

I think that's normally caused by sitting out in the sun. So, either you're not getting much sun or people are picking up after their pets(probably this)
