A cat has evolved over millions of years from single cell organisms.

Take a look at acient egypt. Our modern day house cat evolved from there.

As for the 9 lives, I think that just means they are lucky, which i believe

Indians invented the wolf. Well they didn't really invent it they bred wolfs that had particular qualities and they came up with all the breeds we have today. Cats evolved from some form of wild cat. I'm not sure which though And no animal has 9 lives unfoutunetly.

The domestic cat is one species of the cat family which is part of the order Carnivora. Carnivores are split into the Canids (dog like arnivores including families such as weasels, bears, raccoons, wolves, etc) and Felids (cat like carnivores). So the cat evolved from an ancient carnivore that shared it's evolution with all other carnivores.

A cat does not have 9 lives unless it's buying Friskies.

Cats have always been a source of fascination for mankind throughout history. Today cats have become one of the world's most popular pets perfectly suited to the lifestyle of our day. They are beautiful, enigmatic and easy-to-care for pets. But where and when did the domestic cat originate? This page will give you some insight into this question.

It has been about 4000 years since the first cats were domesticated. The Ancient Egyptians were the first to keep and use cats to control vermin and other pests to protect stores of food. In Ancient Egypt, the cat was revered as a hunter and worshiped as gods and goddesses. The ancient Egyptians imposed the death penalty for killing cats and cats were also mummified before being buried.

Other ancient civilisations later began to domesticate the cat and took tame felines to Italy where they slowly spread around Europe. Eventually, they arrived in the New World with the Pilgrims. The shorthaired domestic cat spread across the world from Egypt while longhaired cats came later from Turkey and Iran. The domestic cat also spread from India to China and Japan.

Except for a short period of persecution in the Middle Ages when cats were associated with the devil, by the eighteenth century cats had become popular household pets world wide.

The wild cats of today such as Lions and Tigers descended from early carnivores called miacids. From there the modern wild cat developed into three main types; the European wild cat, the African wild cat and the Asiatic desert cat. The domestic cat is thought to have evolved from the African wild cat because of its tabby markings.

Domestic cats today still take many characteristics from their wild ancestors. The arresting eyes, body shape, feeding and grooming habits are the same along with the ability to pounce into action at any given moment. It is this link that makes the domestic cat so fascinating around the world.

The non-pedigree domestic cat, the Moggie is the most popular house pet today with the black and white Moggie being the most popular followed by the black cat followed by the Tabby cat. There are also 36 recognised breeds of pedigree cats around the world with the Siamese cat being the most popular. Most homes today that keep pets have at least one cat in residence.

The cat was created by Jehovah god in the Garden of Eden, the very beginning of earth. The cat does not have nine lives, that is a superstition. It is a direct decedent of the African Wildcat, which was the very first cat to be domesticated in Egypt. The African Wildcat is still alive today, out in Africa there are a few of them left. Sadly, they are an endandered species and may become extinct, Jehovah's kingdom will clear up that! Ask a direct question to me if you want to learn more.

Cats are members of the feline family and are actually desert animals. The domestic cat orginates from a small wild cat - possibly the Bengal although dont quote me on that.

Cats became part of our lives 7,000 to 8,000 years ago, after people had already begun to live in permanent communities. Apparently attracted to rodents who came to feed on stored grain, the ancestor of today’s cat, the African wildcat, became a frequent and welcome visitor.

The earliest ancestors of cats originally evolved about 200 million years ago from reptiles.

Cats do not have 9 lives. We are not sure where this myth originated, but it may have developed because of a cat’s keen abilities to expertly maneuver around static objects, move very quickly through their surroundings and balance well on seemingly precarious surfaces.

God -- who has a great sense of humor -- "God" backwards is "Dog"-- and Doesn't the dog love us no matter who we are, is faithful, is a friend and sometimes a rescuer? (not that cats are not like that -- they are, too!)

Cats are descended from their desert counterparts and are truly little lions and tigers - oh my! in miniature, with alot of love and zest for life. Aren't we lucky that they love us too!??

They're alot more fun that Earwigs, but I don't think an Earwig's friend or parents would agree with me on that.

No - Cats don't have 9 lives -- although sometimes they get lucky. Their lives are as precious to them as ours are to us

Cats weren't really invented; they were domesticated around 4,000 years ago in ancient Egypt. There were first kept to control vermin and such. They were also worshipped as gods and goddesses..
