In the Soviet Union, Vietnam, China, Cuba, North Korea and other nations that were/are Atheist, believers were/are systematically tortured or killed, forced to drink out of urinals etc. by the tens of thousands because they were not good little atheists. So don't think it isn't happening.. Just not in the West.. yet.

I've never seen anything on this forum where Atheists are saying any religion is "detrimental to the world." Most have said it is those that use the Christian religion to denigrate and degrade every other religion that is "detrimental to the world."
Is it possible for a Christian to speak an unvarnished truth in trying to start an argument?

No because we would be as bad as Hitler if we were like that. I have no problem against religion or anyone that follows it. Its just not for me. Besides i think that more people are turning to Atheism each day so i reckon in 20 to 200 years there will be no more religion.

I advocate that people stop foisting their personal views on others except where actual harm is being caused (not just in our minds and according to our ego). I don't care what others do with their lives. If you use religion to cultivate altruism, compassion, patience and wisdom... blah blah blah like I always rave about, then go for it!

But then we'd be just as bad as the christians or any other religeon that seeks to impose its veiws on evryone else. For the good of MANKIND no more telling people what right and wrong because of your beleifs. If its bad for the comunal organisme we know as society then its bad(like murder rape the inquisition or the crusades) if its not then let it be.

No. A government that had enough power to ban beliefs and thoughts would be so powerful that it would create a whole other set of problems.

No, Im not extreme. Unlike religions in general, I personally wont persecute anyone for their beliefs. I would rather criticize and let them decide for themselves.

I will not denounce someone's free will. If you choose religion so be it. We will all find the truth if we choose freely to search for it and question everything.

Freedom of religion and worship is one of our country's ideals...
I wouldn't criminalize religion: But thank goodness no religion in a country like ours will ever rule government...
that's what happens when you put religion in charge: Taliban and burning witches.

No, people are free to believe what they will. I don't want anyone forcing me into a state religion and I don't want to force anyone out of their own faith.
All I want is for people to realize that faith is dangerous and intellectually worthless. I won't strongarm anyone... it wouldn't work anyhow. People don't believe or accept something just because you demand they do. That's why Pascal's Wager doesn't work.
All I can do is be rational and honest... and hope that people listen and change for the better.
