My girls are 4 1/2 years apart and that actually seems to work very well. With the oldest in school I can spend extra time with the little one so I haven't experienced the guilt that some moms have who feel they don't give the second baby as much as they gave the first.

Well in my opinion, I would say 2-3 years. I read somewhere that if your children are 5 years apart or more they are basically 2 only children. Bizarre I thought, until I gave birth to my Son when My daughter started Kindergarten. And sure enough that is exactly what it feels like. My siblings and I are anywhere from 1-10 years apart, and my 2 brother and myself are closest while my sister are extremely close. My brother and I are year and 3 years apart and my sisters are 10 years younger than I am but only 1 year apart from each other.

It depends on how you want your family dynamics to work and whether you want them all out the way or time to really enjoy the baby stage.

I have a 4 year gap between my oldest and a 2 year gap between my middle and youngest, the four year gap was nice as it gave me real quality time to spend with my oldest.

Anything less than that and that's 2 lot's of nappies!!

Mine are 22 months apart they are now 8 years and 6 years and they get on together very well, they both look out for each other.. So i would say around the two year gap is good

Not too close, but not too far apart. I definitely think under 5 years apart is good. Mine are two years apart and have been very close all their lives. We have some close friends whose children are 6yrs apart and fight all the time. I'm not saying that age is the only factor, but I think the closer in age the more bonding they can do. Just an opinion, I am no expert.

I must be the only one thats different. I have a 8 year gap, and I love it.
why so long.? I wanted to do something with my life and finish school. Havent regretted them being so far apart. why...
because I was able to take care of me...have the older one fetch diapers, and play with the baby, and learn how to be a big brother to his little sister. beleive it or not, the older one now, drives her around, and been a bit source of help with her since her birth.
I would highly recommend a good age difference. Having them too close together would have drove me crazy and not given me the time to fullfil *my* dreams.
Now I finished college, and went on to do my hearts desires, and I can enjoy the kids, financially and emotionally.

I'd say a couple of years or so. not more than 5. I'm the oldest of 4, the gap between me & my sis is 5yrs. i couldnt stand her when I was younger but now we get on well, there is 2 years tween her & our brother & I think they were really lucky to have each other in school, I wished I'd had that.
