Okay, I will give you my advice since I'm a mother. If my daughter talked to me all the time, or even a great deal of the time I wouldn't feel the need to read her journal. I would hope that we would be close enough that I could trust her.

Anyway, the advice. Talk to your mom. tell her you promise to talk to her more if she stops reading your journal, and if that doesnt' work. Find a book with a cover that slips off of a regular book and put it over your journal and keep it with your regular reading books. That's what I did when I was younger and it worked like a charm.

Ugh! I don't know how to do that unless you keep it online with a password. My mom always read mine and I hated it, so I stopped journalling. I am 36 and still resent it.

use free journal/diary software on the computer and have it password protected. Make sure you use a completely uncrackable password (like godxilla21d) and don't write it down anywhere, memorize it.

good luck!

Keep it on you or very near you at all times, or find a box that locks and keep the key (she can always break a lock, though). You might want to tell her more about your life, too, so she won't be so inclined to snoop.

Do you give your mom any reason why she would want to read it? If she is worried about you, she would read it. If you are a good kid and you keep it locked she probably will never know.

Write a passage about how the one thing you hate is nosey people and how you plan on never telling them anything about yourself. Then write, "I don't have to write down your name, you know who you are."
