A lot of reasons why people talk gossip is that it helps them feel superior almost giving them a higher status. Most of the time it is because they are so insecure inside that they would do anything to make themselves feel better-even if it has potential to bring bad fortune on another person. In my eyes it is cowardly because the person they talk about is never there to defend themselves and the chances are slim that they would ever come back. Its sad but people would do anything to get attention or to be liked

In Matthew 7:15-20, we are given the right to judge one's fruits (their actions, words, deeds, etc...) so that we may know if someone could be a bad influence on us or worse.

Paul says in 1 Corinthians 2:15 that the spiritual man cannot be judged by unbelievers, but we must be careful not to judge unbelievers in an uncharitable way Jesus warned us in Matthew 7:1-2. So while we are allowed to judge, we are not of take advantage of doing this for our purposes, but we must do this in God's will.

People need not judge even if they put themselves in the position of the other person.

Judgment is for the Lord and Him alone.

The rest is gossip and that's a no-no also.

Peace be with you.

"The heart of the upright gives thought to his answer; but from the mouth of the evil-doer comes a stream of evil things."

"He who keeps watch over his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from troubles."

"Wisdom is outside the power of the foolish: he keeps his mouth shut in the public place."

The above is just a snippet of what the Bible says about the mouth. Hope that helps (and yes you are right, folks should stop and think before they make judgements on others)

Amazing isn't it---Christ told his followers never to judge others unless they were perfect and free from fault themselves--seems like a lot of Christians have an over-inflated opinion of themselves!!

Maybe it might be too hard for them, but I think they don't realize that if they don't know the facts they should just shut up.
