I have been a very drinker for years now. I've cut back a lot, trying not to drink at all, but once in a while I slip up. On the days I do drink, even if I drink say only two small glasses of wine, I throw up the next morning. Any medical reason?

Good for you for trying to cut back, but if you've been a heavy drinker for years, you have probably hurt your liver. See your doctor and have a liver profile done, and tell him about your drinking and your desire to quit. There are three or four medications out there that will help you to quit.

One of the oldest is Antabuse. If you take it and then drink, you'll throw up until you think you are going to die. You can't even use cologne or mouthwash containing alcohol.

The newer meds keep you from getting a buzz from alcohol or just cut down on the craving.

Get serious about quitting even if you are not sick now--you will be. There is help available and you deserve it. Good luck.

I don't know about a medical reason - just your body telling you that it doesn't' care for the reintroduction of this poison.

If you think AA is a joke, like me, check out RR - rational recovery. Take the crash course, at this site: http://www.rational.org/html_bullets/Bullet1.html and quit "trying to stop drinking" and just quit forever.

Good luck and keep it up!!
